  1. They look delicious. Despite netting ours, we still shared it with the blackbirds. Must get a better net next year.

    1. We're still loosing a few but the majority are unreachable and we can live with that. Going to harvest tomorrow I think.

  2. Your cherries look lovely and I bet they taste great too if the blackbirds recommendations are anything to go by,

    1. Hopefully they will. Tis a good recommendation though.

  3. Are they sweet cherries? They do look very tempting, I must say! My Morello (sour) cherries are almost ready and I did wonder about netting them but nets look so horrid. (My trees are in a community garden) Maybe the answer is to plant more cherry trees so that there's some for the birds and some for people! :) I'm hoping to make compote and Pam Corbin's cherry ratafia from the River Cottage preserves book.

    1. They're 'Summer Sun' which is a sweet cherry. We've only had it netted for about a week and we're harvesting this afternoon so its not been looking ugly for too long. :)

  4. I missed cherry season here. The miserable selection in the stores right now is not worth the ridiculous amount of money they want. I must pay better attention next year. I have very fond memories of stealing the neighbors cherries as a child. Worms and all-they were so yummy.

    1. I always think that about summer fruits - it's just not worth it out of season to pay over the odds for something watery is it?

  5. I have been told that you can pick cherries just as they ripen & they will then ripen further off the tee. I have nothing to support this as the birds ate all of my cherries. I hope you get a lovely harvest.

    1. We're harvesting this afternoon but I'll remember that for next year. Shame about yours though, hopefully the garden will yield you other goodies instead.
